Job Description
TITLE: Middle School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate certificate for secondary-level administration.
REPORTS TO: Principal
SUPERVISES: Building certified teaching staff and paraprofessionals, teacher aides, classified staff, etc.
JOB GOAL: To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
- Works with staff to initiate, design and implement programs to meet specific needs of the students and supervises school improvement efforts.
- Keeps the board informed of the school's activities, achievements and problems as instructed by the principal.
- Makes recommendations to the board concerning the school's staffing and instructional needs as instructed by the principal.
- Prepares and submits budget requests and monitors expenditures of funds as instructed by the principal.
- Prepares all reports, records, lists and all other paperwork appropriate to the school's operation and administration as instructed by the principal.
- Interprets and enforces all district policies and helps interpret them to the staff and the public as instructed by the principal.
- Assists in the development, revision and evaluation of the curriculum and of each student’s mastery of instructional outcomes as instructed by the principal.
- Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary and assures due process for students when appropriate.
- Serves as activities director for all school programs as instructed by the principal.
- Assists in the development and operation of inservice programs for certified teachers and (as appropriate) classified staff as instructed by the principal.
- Supervises and evaluates professional, paraprofessional and classified staff working in the school and reports to the principal on their performance.
- Plans and supervises fire, tornado and other emergency drills as instructed by the principal.
- Responds to all written and oral requests for information from the board and the superintendent as instructed by the principal.
- Acts as liaison between the school and the community as instructed by the principal.

- EVALUATION: Performance of this individual shall be evaluated by the principal in accordance with current statutes according to procedures established by the Board of Education.
